The Garden of Eden is in Peru

Peru From Peru on August 28, 2009

Rumichaka, 4pm

Ah....we are so happy to be in the Sacred Valley now :)  We flew to Cusco yesterday afternoon and immediately felt the energy shift when we got off the plane. We took a taxi an hour out of town through the beautiful Andes mountains into the Sacred Valley in Urubamba, (halfway to Machu Pichu), to arrive at our amazing garden retreat, Willka Tika.  It means Sacred Flower.  Talk about the perfect name for the perfect little haven that truly is how I imagine the Garden of Eden to be.  There are incredible gardens woven with stone pathways and streams, and flowers in every colour of the chakras.  There is actually a garden devoted to each element and each chakra, not to mention, beautiful rooms, yoga studios, and solar baths under the stars, infused with fresh herbs and flowers.  We both had baths last night--they were incredible.  They brought robes to our rooms and put hot water bottles in our bed.  It was really nice.

They also serve only organic vegetarian meals grown right in their garden.  We have experienced one dinner and one breakfast so far and we have not been disappointed :)  So delicious!

Today we hired a driver to take us into one of the sacred archeological sites called Moray.  It's an Incan ruin shaped in a circle, that descends downward many levels.  It was most likely the site of some agricultural experimentation but it also seems like a sacred gathering place to me.  Then we went to the Salineras de Maras- the salt mines- where salt is just naturally collected in the mountains- it's pretty wild to see...it looks like its own city, all in white.

We arrived back, took a nap and then I went exploring in the different gardens on my own while Stephen did the same.  We are going for sessions on their crystal healing bed very shortly.  It's supposed to recharge and relax you.  Ah yes, life is good :)

Talk soon...
