Sleepy time in a sleepy town

Spain From Spain More from Spain on June 3, 2009

Well, we just awoke from a nice long siesta.  Ahh...feels good to just be able to do that.  Nowhere to go, nothing to do, I think I like life on the Camino :)  Walked about 6 hours today.  We went a little further than the guidebook suggested because we were feeling pretty good and the last town we stopped in had very limited accomodations.  We lucked out and got a room in a hostal with 2 bunk beds, which means a much better chance of actually sleeping! Only 2 others to worry about.  We just met one of them, an American guy from San Francisco- we think he´ll be ok.  After last night, it better be better!  There were at least 4 snoring bears in the room again.  Stephen has it down to a fine art.  On a few occasions now, he has actually removed his mattress from the bedframe and dragged it out into another room, sometimes a hallway or in last night´s case, the kitchen. I always get a chuckle out of that.

Now we are hanging out at the local bar.  It´s pretty cool- the bars here are sort of an everything stop- they open early so you can get coffee and croissants but then they also serve tapas, you can check internet, watch TV and basically just hang out as long as you want.  We´re probably going to split a bocadillo con queso tonight.  (Cheese sandwich).  Then off to Burgos tomorrow- big city with a bit more to see.  Supposed to have great architecture.  I´m still a bit sleepy...maybe I´ll just go back to bed.  As much as we are physically active, we are definitely getting some good R n R too...

Buenos noches...

Sounds like you had a pretty good day. I am amazed at how many hostels there are. Yes if Steve wants his zzzzzzzzzzzz's he will find a quite spot. I guess the food must be agreeing with you. Have fun in the big city, I am anxious to hear about it!
Lots of love
