Calgary, 12am

Well today was Stephen's birthday.  We had a great day and I made sure it was full of surprises.  We had a leisurely start this morning and decided to skip the gym.  We met up with a couple of Stephen's clients for lunch- really sweet people- who wanted to thank us by taking us out to lunch- delicios Vietnamese food.

Then I dropped Stephen off for a birthday astrology reading.  I have a great astrologer here in Calgary and decided it would be fun to give Stephen a session today.  I think he really enjoyed it. 

Then off to the Casino we went.  We learned how to play roulette today.  And I especially enjoyed playng one of my favourite slot machines, the Jade Elephant.  On the bright side, we left with the exact amount we began with, so we had some fun, were up for a while and then quit once it all evened out.  Perfect :)

From there we hopped back in the car, all the while I was being very mysterious, as I had a surprise in store for dinner.  He knew we had a reservation but he didn't know where and he also didn't know that there would be 5 others waiting for us when we got there.  He was definitely surprised :) Mission accomplished. Our hosts were there as well as some friends- one of whom is an old friend of Stephen's and the other are some new friends we have just met.  I managed to find this great little vegetarian restaurant called the "Gratitude Cafe".  Great atmosphere and very fresh, wholesome food.  Followed by a tiramisu gelato torte which I brought in from what is supposedly the best gelato shop in town.  I thought Stephen might enjoy re-living one of our favourite aspects of Italy :)  All in all, it was a great day. 

Yesterday went well too.  I did my gig at the design studio.  It went over very well...not a whole lot of people since it was going on during regular work hours, but everyone who was there was very appreciative and glad that they came.  There was wine and cheese and art exhibited.  It felt good to be back in the performance groove as it's been a little while now since I've done anything like that. 

I am now officially exhuasted as I didn't have a great sleep last night so off I go...the birthday boy is already crashed out....
