Mansilla de Las Mulas, 1:45pm.
Finally! A sunny day...ah...it´s amazing how you can take something for granted and then suddenly it´s gone and you don´t know what to do! We had about 5 days with no sun or heat, very cold, and finally a clear warm day :) We got up early again and caught a glimpse of the stars. Because the meseta is so flat, it makes star gazing that much easier...it´s like a big blanket in the sky. We may try for even earlier tomorrow to get an even greater view.
A shorter day today and then again tomorrow...we will be in Leon early tomorrow morning. Another big city, (which I always thought was in France but that one is of course, Lyon with a¨"y"). Yes, there are 2 of them. Stephen and I really enjoy experiencing the bigger cities...it´s a nice change from the villages we travel through most days. We may even try paella tomorrow- the veggie version of course- as we have been wanting to try some local cuisine for a while.
We had a big pasta dinner with the South Africans and the Dutch woman last night. We pooled our resources and cash and for 3 € each had a delicious penne with lentils, tomatoes and olives in a rose sauce, fresh bread and butter, red wine and vanilla ice cream and cherries for dessert. Stephen cooked- a big passion of his- and it was fantastic.
Today we´re hanging out in the sun. We like to lay our sleeping bags out on the patio and catch the rays while we can. But not for too long with my fair skin!
Well, I´m sure we will have much to report of Leon tomorrow.
Ciao for now, amigos
Emily
Ah ladies, you make me laugh!

*groan* This time you're wrong Miss Pearson! I am
groaning but about something else...
Andrea (note the use of the full name, this is
serious) - eating the veggie version of Paella is
like having poutine without the gravy. It will be
a slap in the face to my ancestors! Paella is made
with mariscos (seafood), carne (meat), y pollo
(chicken), it brings all three... thats what gives
the rice the AMAZING taste! Pick out the stuff you
can't eat. But please...for the love of Cafes con
Leche and all that is SPANIARD...do not get a
veggie paella. I shudder just to think of it. It
breaks my Spanish heart.
Que tengan un lindo dia y que disfruten el sol.

Yes never take that sun for granted. Life is just so much better when it shines on us. Sounds like Chef Steve made a great meal, it is a passion of his. Have fun in the big city and keep us posted. Lots of love.
